An Authentic and Enriching Experience
Kyoto Samurai House is a samurai residence with over 300 years of history. It was the residence of the Mori family, who are the descendents of Mori Ranmaru, a servant of Oda Nobunaga. The Mori family lived in this house in order to protect the nearby temple of Nishi Honganji (World Heritage). The tea room of the house has both a tea garden and nijiriguchi (small crawl-in entrance), and remains as it was when the Mori family resided here.
Please enjoy the atmosphere of this historic samurai residence and experience the rich culture and traditions of Kyoto, offered in several different languages. Our aim is to not to provide a simple tourist experience, but to share with you an authentic and enriching slice of traditional Kyoto, provided with the kind of warm hospitality that makes you feel as if this samurai residence is that of a close Japanese friend.
